First post of 2018

I look at this yellowed paper pasted on this storage box (where I place my stationery and knick-knacks that I need) on my desk where it stated my target for this site for 2017: “1 post a day or minimum 4 posts a week”, and “post a glossary every week”.

None of this was ever done for 2017. I got caught up with work (the usual excuse), chasing for better-paying projects, give myself breaks here and there, and events, and gatherings, and…

The paper is still there, staring at me, reminding me of what I have set up to do and failed to do in 2017. Felt deja vu when someone reminded me at the gym last Saturday, “don’t make new year resolutions. you are setting yourself up for failure.”

I don’t think what was contained in that scrap of note is part of my 2017 or 2018 resolutions, but it is certainly something I need to get this website going. Of course, I realize now I will also need greater discipline to get “cracking”.

For a start, maybe I can work on my glossaries… Not just for this site but also to improve my turnaround time for day-to-day work. I have just spent the last two weeks going through all my translation glossaries and realize that they are all over the place (or rather, my computer hard disks and external hard disks).

Whatever it is, I hope 2018 will be a more productive (and profitable and healthy) year for myself and everybody else.

Happy New Year!
