Translate

These are samples of our translation work in different domains, mainly materials published on the web, such as the various translation tests by different agencies.  We cover the following materials:

  • general marketing (press releases, white papers, brochures, blurps) for IT and technology products;
  • localization (IT, games, software);
  • manuals (mostly software and SDK platforms);
  • general business domains (business news, finance reports, correspondence (emails, letters etc));
  • general legal (contracts, partnerships, RFP documents, laws and regulations (such as the fire control act of China), and court verdicts);
  • pharmaceutical-related (press releases, product blurps, academic research papers (clinical trials and studies from journals like the Chinese Journal of Oncology Research)).

We also have a strong interest in classical works and am trying to branch out into relevant areas to expand the scope of my work.

In all honesty, translation is not a rosy job, especially for this language pair where competition is stiff.  Stiff competition but still possible to eke out a living, though one can barely hope to make big money.  If you, like us, love the languages and enjoy exploring the different ways ideas can be expressed in English and Chinese, then this occupation (what we use to occupy most of our time) can be very enjoyable.

There are frustrations at times but a compliment from a client every now and then really brighten things up somewhat.

Write to us anytime if you have something to share, especially if you are a fellow translator, in any language pair.
