莫听闲言说是非
晨昏只好念弥陀
若将狂话为真实
画饼如何止得饥
Pay no heed to gossips and spread no scandals.
Chant the Buddhist prayers day and night.
If you believe the lies and fallacies,
You are drawing cakes to fill your hunger.
签意/Meaning
画饼充饥之象。诸事多虚少实也。
This is from a Chinese proverb where a man tries to satisfy his hunger by drawing a cake. The hunger is real but the food is not.
解曰/Interpretation
心中不定 枉看经文 恰似画饼 食也难吞
Prayers are wasted on a distracted and discontented heart. Like cakes in a painting, you cannot consume them to satisfy your hunger.
