These days, I wish I have some magic or power to do certain things, and get things to turn my way.
Tiny Rainclouds
Tiny rainclouds to rain on anybody who lights up a cigarette near me so that I don’t have to take in the smoke and the toxics. And that these people will then stop lighting up around me and I no longer have to deal with cigarette butt litter. Such litter carry germs and saliva and all that can transmit diseases like COVID-19.
Disappearance
I go to the gym sometimes for classes, and there is this woman with a huge ass and tall who unfortunately attends some of the same classes that I do. She is totally oblivious and insensitive to other people. She would stand right in front of the instructor and block them off from the rest of the class. Another unfortunate thing is the gym I go to, they hire many petite instructors (men and women alike) who are not more than 2/3 the size of this Hippopotamus. Often, we ended up “blind” for at least 1/2 the class time because we could not see the instructor.
Besides having huge hips, this Hippo chooses to wear clothes that are obviously too small for her, so we get to see the ugly rows of belly fat and the color of her panties cos her pants kept dropping. She is probably one of the most unpopular members in our gym. People called her (behind her back, cos we all like to pretend we are civilized people) Hippo, Gorilla, Lei Gong (Chinese for Thunder God, probably because she lands with a thunder) and even Murtabak (an Indian/Arabic dish, often filled with a lot of meat in between. I must say, the person who gave her that name is really quite creative though I have never seen or tasted this dish before).
I wish I have the magic to make her disappear so that I can enjoy my class or have more class choices (now I have to avoid classes where this giant Hippo can be seen). Even if I cannot make her disappear, if I can make her shrink to size, that will make me happy too.
Begone, You Sick People
Despite the strict rules about mask wearing and news about the gym cluster in Hong Kong (https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/hong-kong-orders-compulsory-covid-19-testing-after-gym-cluster-14399484), gym-goers in Singapore are still very lax and have cavalier attitude to wearing masks. Many refused to wear masks inside the gym. And nobody enforces the wearing of masks despite repeated feedback from the members to the management.
Do people think that because they can do all these gym classes that they are impervious to diseases, and that COVID-19 will not affect them? What is worse, I have seen people who shown flu symptoms and showing up in the gym, and often without wearing masks. Isn’t it ironic that the ones who think themselves most healthy are the ones who are often the super-spreaders for diseases? The gym cluster in Hong Kong is a classic case!
And the pathetic thing is the staff and instructors at the gyms are so poorly paid and so unmotivated, they do not care to enforce safety for ALL. Most of the time, they pretend they do not see the breach. I will not feel sorry if my gym ever has to shut down. I will carry on with my life, with or without gym access, after all, it’s just a service I’ve procured for myself that is NOT essential. But these people will lose their livelihood (at least temporarily) and they do not care that they do. What is not okay if I were to contract the disease from one of these careless, mindless, inconsiderate gym goers.
One of them is a young lady called Joyce. She will yank and yank and talk in the gym for long stretches of time, without her mask on. And nobody will say anything or chase her out because she is a regular! Looking at how she behaves in the gym, I am certain she does not wear her mask outside either, and there we have, a potential super-spreader if the virus gets to her. I don’t know this lady personally but she talks so much, I know her name is Joyce.
And then there is this guy called Zul. He was obviously sniffing and yet he went around the gym without his mask and talked to people, including me! Ended up I have to feed myself some preventive medicine that day.
Excuse me for being paranoid but the virus is still raging. Even China, who has not had any local cases for over a month, reported one local case today (https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/china-reports-first-local-covid-19-case-in-more-than-a-month-14436696). And there are cases of B117 rearing its head in Singapore despite all the extensive testing and precautions. Nobody has the right to think that they are immune to COVID-19 virus, and act rashly or carelessly with little regards to the health and safety of others.
I wish I have the magic to make all these people disappear from the classes I go to.
